WHY EUROPE?
- 821 million Europeans, less than 2% follow Jesus
Many North Americans view Europe as an evangelized continent—after all, it’s the birthplace of Protestant Christianity. And European countries are known for their cathedrals. However, the population of Christ-followers in many countries is less than two percent.
To many peoples of Europe, to be religious is to go to church for baptisms, weddings, and funerals. Those who have heard of Christianity view it as a thing of the past, and they may associate it with a ruling political system. They’ve experienced a caricature of Christianity that holds no validity.
- From art and tradition to fashion and technology, Europe is a place of influence and contrast.
Who hasn’t dreamed of visiting Europe—walking down a quaint street, taking in the rustic architecture and the aroma of freshly baked bread? Most North Americans have at least used a European export, whether it’s L’Oreal shampoo or Lindt chocolate. Europe is in the spotlight, and it powerfully influences the rest of the world in many ways. The world watches Europe and often mimics its patterns. If this powerhouse were to “export” a Christ-centered perspective, lives could be changed across the globe.

When it comes to spirituality, Europe is needy. God is using people who are willing to go, live among the peoples of Europe, and tell them about His love.
